Writing can be compared to baking in many ways. I do both. In fact, I run an outdoor tearoom during the summer months. I write romantic suspense novels during the rest of the year. Anyone blessed with a creative gene can identify.
Let me create something of beauty to share with others, and hopefully, bestow a blessing. Merveilleux, a French dessert which means Little Meringues, is one of my favorite treats I create in my tearoom. These consist of two meringue cookie discs sandwiched and then wrapped with stiff, sweetened whipped cream. Dust or sprinkle this divine morsal with powdered cocoa or shaved dark chocolate. Mouthwatering, crunchy, and velvety smooth, this tasty is best enjoyed with a hot cup of tea. Heaven on earth!
Did I spark your interest? Make you hungry? Did I send you to your kitchen shelf to drag out a cookbook? I hope so. When I write, I strive to do the same. My goal is to place you in my tearoom, forking up bites of Merveilleux, and sipping a cup of Earl Grey, while you listen to the water fountain bubble, gurgle, and splash through my display of fragrant geraniums.
Can I make you a reservation for tea, or better, sell you my latest novel?
Recipe for Merveilleux:
Meringues – four large eggs, ½ teaspoon salt, 1 ¼ cups sugar
Whipped cream – two cups of heavy whipping cream, ¼ cup powdered sugar
Chocolate shavings – seven ounces dark chocolate shaved with a vegetable peeler or dust lightly with favorite cocoa.
After assembly, chill until serving.
Brew tea and enjoy!
